Marketing and Audience Engagement

Since I attend a small school with only 60 students per grade, there is a relatively small audience for our school publication. However, I have made it my mission throughout my time at Dateline to increase audience engagement every year. I use social media to advertise stories on our website to get more traction with Dateline and attract people to our website. I ensure we make an Instagram post for every story published on the website, as well as have frequent Instagram stories covering school events and other things of interest. During special events, we get people to do Instagram takeovers to increase audience engagement.

I also make sure Dateline sends out a newsletter every month with snippets of some of the top stories published on the website that month. It includes links to the articles on the website. I send these out from the Dateline email address to all students and teachers at my school. These newsletters help keep students and teachers aware about what we are publishing, increasing traction on the website they may not have checked.
